Video Games and Computers labeled ‘Energy Vampires’

Energy Vampires

An international study group (whatever that means) reports that all of our high-tech gadgetry makes up about half of our energy bills every month. Sucking down more juice than your refrigerator, washer and dryer, air conditioning, etc., our computers and video game consoles are now considered to be ‘energy vampires’.

These devices scarf down our valuable dollars while we sleep, even if our power strip is soaking in holy water! Not only that, but consumer electronic use is estimated to double by 2022 and triple by 2030. If my calculations are correct, that means that our gadget use will constitute 150% of our monthly energy bills, a figure that theoretically means that the energy company should owe us 50% back.

How do we prevent this from happening? The ‘experts’ suggest not buying stuff that has the features we want, but instead we should simply buy the most energy-efficient products on the market. A lot of good that will do because if history has taught us anything it’s that the energy companies will simply increase the rates if the consumption level goes down. Good for the environment, maybe, but doesn’t do shit for you and me… unless, you know, you live in the environment.

Hey, look at this other crap!
